ZzzQuil Reviews - What Is It?
WARNING: DO NOT BUY ZzzQuil Until You Read This Review!
Is it a Scam? Does It Really Work? Check Ingredients, Side Effects and More!
ZzzQuil is a sleep aid product manufactured in the USA. It is available in several forms: ZzzQuil Warming Berry Liquid, ZzzQuil Vanilla Cherry Liquid, ZzzQuil Soothing Mango Berry Alcohol Free Liquid, and ZzzQuil Liquicaps. All of these products are designed for people with occasional sleeplessness. They will help you to get enough sleep necessary for your mind and body. There is an official website on the Internet that is, however, not informative enough. It contains the section of FAQ but I didn't manage to find the answers even to some of my questions.
Ingredients of ZzzQuil - Does It Really Work? Is It a Scam?
ZzzQuil is an over-the-counter sleep remedy that, to the contrast to other sleep-aid medications, contains only one active ingredient. ZzzQuil contains diphenhydramine HCl, its main ingredient, which is responsible for your falling asleep and remaining in this state for a sufficient amount of time. Let's study the way this product works in your body.
The human body produces special substance histamine to help you stay awake and feel energized during the day. It is a natural substance that cooperates with receptors in your brain responsible for your wakefulness. And diphenhydramine HCI is an antihistamine. Its function is to block the activity of histamine and, in the result, to help you fall asleep and sleep better all through the night.
Diphenhydramine is a substance that is able to make you not only fall asleep but also to relieve symptoms of hay fever, allergy, and a cold. Usually, these symptoms are: itching, rash, watery eyes, itchy nose/eyes/throat, runny nose, cough, and sneezing. Diphenhydramine is also used to treat vomiting, nausea, and dizziness which are the symptoms of motion sickness. This substance also helps the user to relax at any time of day or night. Diphenhydramine blocks histamine, a definite natural substance produced by your body during an allergic reaction. It possesses drying effects by blocking acetylcholine, another substance produced by your body. Due to this property you can get rid of such symptoms as runny nose and watery eyes.
ZzzQuil has not been proven to be effective or safe in children younger than 6 years of age. For this reason it is not recommended to use this product in children unless the product is prescribed by the doctor. Some ZzzQuil products in the form of tablets and capsules are not advised for use in children below 12 years. Consult your doctor or pharmacist concerning the use of any of these products.
Customer Reviews - Does It Have Any Side Effects?
The manufacturer hasn't mentioned any side effects that may be caused by the use of ZzzQuil, so I had to do my own research. I was extremely shocked with a number of possible adverse effects of this sleep-aid product. Common side effects include: drowsiness, dizziness, loss of coordination; dry nose, mouth, or throat; upset stomach and constipation; day-time drowsiness after night-time use; dry eyes, blurred vision.
There can occur an increase in the thickness of lung secretions that is very dangerous for people suffering from lung illnesses. Infrequent side effects of ZzzQuil may include: blood disorder, hallucination, Extra heartbeat, fast heartbeat, allergic reaction, seizures, confused mind, blurred vision, dizziness during the day, difficult or painful urination, dryness of the nose, dry mouth, headache, excessive sweating, hives, itching, involuntary quivering, nightmares, nervousness, loss of appetite, over excitement, rash, problems with eyesight, ringing in the ears, sun-sensitive skin, stomach cramps and throat dryness.
Many users report about negative effects of ZzzQuil on the nervous system. Almost all patients suffer from drowsiness, depression, and sedation. One can experience dystonic reactions and worsening of motor skills even after the first dose of diphenhydramine. Delirium has been found in elderly patients with dementia. Many patients have experienced hypersensitivity side effects such as pruritus, rash, and eczema. Gastrointestinal side effects were expressed by dry mouth and nausea. Cardiovascular side effects included tachycardia, hypotension, and palpitations. Genitourinary side effects included dysuria and urinary retention.
"I'm a pharmacist, and I can tell you that I would not recommend this product. Diphenhydramine is not a good choice for insomnia"
"This is truly amazing that such an old ingredient can still be marketed as something new"
"I have trouble sleeping and had high hopes for this product, instead I tossed and turned all night woke up from bad dreams and was seeing things that weren't there"
Where To Buy ZzzQuil?
A bottle of ZzzQuil Liquid contains 6 fl. oz. and 12 fl. oz. You can buy a pack with two 12 fl. oz. containers. A pack of Zzzquil LiquiCaps contains 12, 24, or 48 capsules. The cost of the product depends on the number or amount of medications. The ZzzQuil products can be purchased online and in most pharmacies; including Walmart, Amazon, GNC, Target, Walgreens, and Rite Aid. In any case, I recommend buying a product of this kind only from reputable official websites.
My Final Summary
I as a specialist don't trust ZzzQuil manufacturers as I can see a lot of disadvantages. The user can face high risk for tolerance. The product has great potential to cause severe side effects and is not suitable for everyone. For this reason I would use Zzzquil only for occasional sleeplessness. It isn't effective against insomnia. The product may often cause such side effects as: constipation, blurred vision, dizziness, upset stomach, dry mouth/nose/throat. So, it's necessary to ask for immediate medical aid if these side effects become worse.
Elderly people and children are more sensitive to diphenhydramine, so they are at higher risk of experiencing side effects. It's better for them to avoid using Zzzquil. The same concerns pregnant or nursing women, as well as people with certain medical conditions.
The product has some advantages too. The main ingredient does not form habit. Stop using the product if it doesn't help you for more than two weeks. Taking this medication does not guarantee you a peaceful sleep immediately. Your freshness after waking up depends on the number of hours you sleep and many other factors. Take ZzzQuil when you plan to have an adequate time for sleeping.
I can't recommend using ZzzQuil because the user has an extremely high risk of side effects. Besides, there are products on the market which are really worth your attention.
Many doctors consider that the problem can be well solved by another product known as Melatrol. I completely agree with them because I study many products of the kind! I recommend you reading my review about Melatrol. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
